We are currently seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Communications Coordinator to join CAMH’s Public Affairs team and help grow awareness of 9‑8‑8: Suicide Crisis Helpline, Canada’s national three‑digit suicide prevention service.
Salary Range: $37.51 – $50.60 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
Content creation and editorial planning
- Develop and implement high‑quality content across a range of channels including drafting copy, creating video, audio and visual content, and preparing for publication.
- Contribute to editorial planning meetings: pitch new content ideas in line with 9‑8‑8’s digital strategy and overall communications and marketing goals.
- Oversee and update 9‑8‑8’s annual editorial calendar.
- Ensure content is clear, accurate, and accessible, following established templates, editorial standards, and brand guidelines.
Social Media
- Carry out day‑to‑day management of 9‑8‑8’s social media presence, including scheduling, publishing, and monitoring content in alignment with approved messaging and brand standards.
- Implement strategies for engaging followers, and build trust in and support for the service by growing 9‑8‑8’s online communities, in line with 9‑8‑8’s social media guidelines and safety standards.
- Assist with basic performance tracking and reporting, identifying trends or issues for escalation as needed.
- Escalate sensitive issues or emerging risks to Communications Advisors or Manager in a timely manner.
Website
- Carry out updates to the 9‑8‑8 website, microsite, and SharePoint in collaboration with relevant team members.
- Track and record metrics from the above sites and identify any trends or areas for improvement.
- Assist with content organisation, structure, and accessibility in line with 9‑8‑8’s digital strategy.
Brand Asset Management
- Maintain, organise and distribute approved 9‑8‑8 brand assets, templates, and communications materials.
- Support version control and inventory management of communications resources.
- Respond to internal requests for brand assets and communications materials in alignment with brand standards and funder guidelines.
Communications and marketing campaigns
- Develop and implement organic social media and other digital campaigns in line with 9‑8‑8’s communications and marketing strategy and to support progress against 9‑8‑8’s annual communications and marketing objectives.
- Provide communications support to the 9‑8‑8 team, including content creation, copywriting and editing, and providing guidance and advice.
- Provide general coordination and support to the Public Affairs and Communications team as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Post‑secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs or a related area.
- 3‑5 years qualified experience in digital or content marketing, or a related role.
- Exceptional organisational skills: the ability to manage competing priorities, keep clear records and track the status of key projects.
- Experience in developing and implementing digital marketing campaigns.
- Experience in managing brands’ social media presence, with a proven track record of increasing follower counts and engagement, and building communities online.
- Experience in collaborating and maintaining good relationships with a variety of internal and external partners and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, with a clear and accessible written style.
- Time management skills, ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with vendors and contractors to ensure the production of high‑quality work.
- Ability to be consultative and work sensitively with people with a range of backgrounds and experiences, including people with lived experience of mental illness and suicide.
- The post‑holder should be able to write and understand French to a good standard; bilingualism (English/French) is strongly desired.
- Knowledge of, and experience in, the mental health and suicide prevention sectors is also an asset.

- The role is located at 100 Stokes Street.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support events or time‑sensitive deliverables.
