Job Information

Permanent Full Time (CUPE 136) | Probationary Rate: $40.12 | Full Time Rate: $40.42

Responsibilities

- Liaises with Manager or Supervisor in the planning and scheduling of work
- Provides direction to other members of the work crew while working with crew in accomplishment of assigned activities
- Monitors daily plant operation of refrigeration system, HVAC, pool circulation system, and Building Control Systems
- Repairs pumps, filters, and other operational equipment
- Maintains accurate logs for refrigeration system, pools, maintenance supplies, fire prevention equipment, pool chemicals
- Performs general handy person jobs and repairs
- Assists Manager or Supervisor in preparation and removal of ice from arena complex
- Assists with training of Operators and part time staff in safe and efficient performance of duties
- Keeps Manager or Supervisor informed on ongoing activities and suggests changes in work methods to increase efficiency and cost effectiveness
- Provides high quality customer service contact and assists public within building
- Assists Manager or Supervisor with scheduling of part-time facility attendants
- Investigates and responds to inquiries and complaints from public, suppliers, contractors
- Assists Manager or Supervisor with financial functions including invoice processing, payment and reconciliation
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- High School graduation plus completion of Basic Refrigeration Certification, Certified Pool Operator Certification, CPR and First Aid Certification




- 3.5 years of experience directly related to facility maintenance operations and customer service; scheduling and inventory management experience is a significant asset
- Proven experience in directing and assigning work to others, including training and monitoring work performance; strong leadership, conflict resolution and public relations skills
- Demonstrated effective communication, both oral and written
- Effective customer service skills to deal with public, co-workers, contractors and suppliers
- Proficient time management skills and flexibility in adjusting between a variety of duties
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team; ability to assess and problem solve
- Demonstrated experience in general repairs, maintenance and mechanical operations
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and understanding of health & safety issues relevant to operation of equipment used for daily activities
- Successful candidates who are current hires will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record dated within last 30 days as condition of employment
- Must hold valid unrestricted Ontario Driver’s License Class G; applicants with 6 or more points are ineligible; new hires must provide current driver’s abstract and pass a town-administered road test
- Successful candidate will be required to supply personal vehicle for job duties, including regular site visits at satellite facilities
