Overview
We are currently looking for an Account Manager that has the character and personality to work with a strong team of personable and successful individuals in our newly developed Small Business Solutions (SBS) division. You will have the opportunity to be part of a new key strategic business initiative, engaging with team members across the country in a fast‑paced environment.
How you’ll make an impact
As the Account Manager you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day account management of employee group benefit plans with our small business clients. Our approach is warm and our relationships are everything with these client groups. The Account Manager will report to the Manager, Client Relations – Small Business Solutions.
- Nurture, expand, and build relationships with existing and new clients.
- Develop a clear understanding of the client and their strategy, and work closely to ensure their goals are being executed.
- Have consultative conversations with internal client partners to ensure that the client strategy is aligned and implemented.
- Serve as the key relationship for your clients, enlisting support team members as needed and overseeing request/project handling to ensure clients’ needs and expectations are met, and exceeded.
- Focus on client retention and relationship management; uncover additional opportunities to drive the sale of additional services and coverage levels.
- Develop positive working relationships with all internal partners and be an active participant in building a strong team culture.
- Apply benefits expertise to help prepare and present renewals, employee benefit sessions, and employee communications, negotiate with carriers, interpret benchmark data and analyze trends.
- Work with the appropriate client contact and Marketing & Implementation Concierge to ensure proper technical account implementation.
- When appropriate, serve as the liaison to the Producer(s) connected to your clients.
About you
Please note that this role will require you to obtain a Life license in the province(s)
deemed necessary based on your client block.
- Proven experience in account management with broker/consulting firms, insurance carriers, or third‑party advantages administration, or similar organizations.
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups of employees and clients and not afraid to share your expertise.
- Successful completion of CEBS, GBA, or similar designations is an asset.
- Consistent track record of solving complex client challenges through analytical & creative problem solving, while navigating potentially difficult conversations.
- High level of comfort managing client groups with varying levels of complexity.
- Hands‑on renewal or marketing benefits plan experience a definite plus.
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
- Ability to travel when business demands.
- Expertise in Microsoft 365; can manage Outlook inbox with ease.
- Ability to identify decision makers and seek solutions to problems.
