Our Client: We are recruiting multiple Staff Accountants on behalf of a respected boutique CPA public accounting firm based in Milton. Employment Type: Full-Time | Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. During tax season (March and April), 1/2 days of Saturdays. (hours are banked)

About the Role

As a Staff Accountant – Audit , you will perform accounting/tax responsibilities with a focus on executing audit, review, and compilation engagements. You will play a key role in client communication, tax filings, and financial analysis. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is ready to take the next step in their public accounting career.

Responsibilities

- Plan, execute, and complete audit, review, and compilation engagements.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries, year-end entries, reporting, corporate tax returns (T2s), and other CRA filings.
- Serve as the primary contact between clients, client staff, and firm personnel.




- Analyze and review personal (T1s) and corporate (T2s) tax returns for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and complete personal tax returns for clients across Canada.

Requirements

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting or business with an accounting focus.
- CPA designation (or close to completion) strongly preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in public practice, preferably with owner-managed clients.
- Hands‑on experience with audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian tax laws and compliance standards.
- Proficiency with Caseware , QuickBooks , and/or Sage (Simply Accounting) .
- Familiarity with tax software (e.g., Cantax ) is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed during peak periods.
