The Registered Nurse (RN)/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) applies the nursing process to support clients/residents/patients in achieving and maintaining their optimum level of health within a people-centered approach in acute, transitional, personal care home (PCH), primary health care, Public Health-Healthy Living and/or home care. The RN/RPN works to full scope of practice, engages in ongoing education and maintains competency congruent with Southern Health-Santé Sud policies, Professional Standards of Practice, College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba, College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba, Code of Ethics, and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Responsibilities

- Apply the nursing process to support clients/residents/patients in achieving and maintaining health within a people-centered approach across acute, transitional, personal care home, primary health care, Public Health-Healthy Living and/or home care settings.
- Maintain competence in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policies, Qualified Standards of Practice, and regulatory bodies.
- Exercise initiative and independent judgment in setting priorities and determining methods of care, in alignment with organizational mission, vision, and values.

Education, Certification & Licensure

- Education: SCHIPP & VPP and any other mandatory courses for the area.
- Certification/Licensure/Registration:
- Current active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba/College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) certification.
- Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) certification.

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with access to an insured vehicle and $1,000,000 liability insurance.

- Proficiency in both official languages is essential for designated bilingual positions.
- Ability to respect confidentiality across paper, electronic, and other formats.
- Good work and attendance record.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
- No significant hazardous conditions; may require evenings and weekends.
- Travel to other regional facilities may be required.
