Detail Designer II – Mechanical / Piping

We’re supporting a leading shipbuilding organization in North Vancouver with a key hire for a Detail Designer II focused on mechanical and piping systems.

This role will support new construction and repair projects across a range of complex vessels, including icebreakers and naval support ships. You’ll be working as part of an integrated engineering team, contributing to detailed design, 3D modelling, and production‑ready deliverables.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Develop and update 3D models and detailed design drawings for mechanical and piping systems
- Support design work across new build and repair projects
- Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory standards
- Prepare material specifications and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and project teams to support execution
- Provide technical support to manufacturing to ensure designs are aligned with production requirements

What We’re Looking For

- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering,



Mechanical Design, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in detailed design within heavy industry or manufacturing
- Experience working with mechanical and/or piping systems
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (required)
- Experience with Cadmatic is a solid asset
- Exposure to shipbuilding, marine, or industrial projects is preferred

Nice to Have

- Experience working on marine vessels (icebreakers, naval, multipurpose vessels, etc.)
- Familiarity with classification society rules and standards
- Experience working in integrated project teams
- Full‑time, on‑site role based at Capilano Business Park (North Vancouver)
- Occasional travel required to the yard at 50 Pemberton
- Local candidates in the Lower Mainland preferred

- Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must be eligible to obtain Reliability Status & Controlled Goods Clearance
