Job Description

In collaboration with the health team, the primary health nurse practitioner will provide primary health services to the community. This includes: health promotion and protection, disease and injury prevention, provision of supportive, instructive,



treatment and emergency services; collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals; initiating and participating in community development initiatives and participating in evaluative projects. The Primary Health Care Nurse RN (NP) reports to a Manager of Primary Health Care. Incumbent is self-directed and requires minimal supervision.

Qualifications

- Experience
- Three (3) full-time years of experience as a Registered Nurse

- Education

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

- Licenses

- Registered Nurse Practitioner (RN(NP))
- Valid Class 5 driver's license

- Other Education and Training

- Basic Cardiac Life Support Level C Certificate (BCLS)

- Knowledge and Abilities

- Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking
- Verbal and non-verbal communication techniques
- Ability to adapt to and implement change
- Demonstrated initiative, self-direction, organizational & leadership abilities
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to provide holistic care to individuals, families & the community
