Job Summary: We are hiring an Engineering Manager to work with one of our Military Defense manufacturing clients in Brantford! The Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers and technicians as they develop, test, and improve technical solutions for the organization. This role is responsible for planning and assigning work, supporting problem-solving, and driving efficiency. The Engineering Manager also helps increase the department’s performance and profitability by finding better ways to use resources and improve processes.

Job Type: Full time, permanent.

Job Location: Brantford, ON

Compensation Structure: 90k-120k per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

· Hands on management of the engineering team including hire, train, lead, mentor and personal development

· Oversee and manage research and development, product and process improvement projects and prepare detailed information for SR&ED;, coordinating with management and other departments

· Ensure the department adheres to standard engineering practices

· Review/approve company/customer drawings, specifications and procedures

· Lead the engineering team using positive reinforcement, attainable goals and KPI’s

· Use annual reviews to help junior members grow in their skillsets and become more efficient in their duties to aid in manufacturing and company profitability

· Create detailed project specifications and timelines to accomplish realistic goals

· Prepare budgets, approve expenditures and control costs for the department aligning with company finances and budgets

· Maintain and verify up-to-date compliance with all relevant standards and regulations (MIL-STD, RoHS, REACH, CMRT, CSA, etc.), ensuring they are appropriately documented, tracked, and contractually enforced across all projects and suppliers.

· Improve manufacturing processes using current technology,



automation, tooling and proven processes

· Work closely with Sales in developing overall requirements for new products and develop attainable results from prototyping through final release

· Establish administrative policies, procedures, and standards for engineering group

· Coordinate activities with executive and management team to align with company strategies and long-term goals to achieve growth and expansion

Skills/Qualifications:

· P.Eng. preferred but will accept other qualifying certifications

· Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting

· Minimum 3 years of management and/or supervisor experience

· Yellow or Green belt in Lean Manufacturing an asset

· Proven leader able to guide and mentor junior members

· Hands-on manager displaying a practical skill set

· Ability to think “outside the box” and take on new projects with a positive attitude

· Contributes to a team environment cooperating with other departments

· Able to develop new products using standard techniques and in-depth research of current technologies

· Ability to solve structural problems such as moments, material stress, loading

· Experience in materials and proper application

· Knowledge of electrical systems and industrial automation

· Experience with 2D & 3D drawing using Autodesk Inventor

· Knowledge of technical drawing requirements such as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, ASME Y14 and 3D modeling techniques

· In depth experience in standard engineering processes such Engineering Change Orders and Deviations

· Able to lead projects and deliver positive results with documented data and metrics

· Experience in manufacturing techniques, processes and practical implementation

· RF experience is an significant asset

· Good experience with ERP, MS office and other support software
