Overview

Extra Life (extra-life.org) is an official program of the Children's Miracle Network. Extra Lifers in Manitoba (extralifewpg.com) fundraise for the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. We have official support from CHFM and work with dedicated representatives at the hospital foundation. We play video games, board games, table-top RPGs, etc to raise money. Participants in Extra Life do individual or team fundraising. Extra Life Winnipeg Guild members go above and beyond—our group attends and hosts community engagement events to promote awareness of Extra Life, encourage sign-ups, and run fundraising activities.

Responsibilities

- Redesign and update the website's visual layout and user experience to create a clean, modern, and qualified experience
- Ensure the website is fully responsive and optimized for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices (test the site across common browsers and screen sizes)
- Review the current site structure and recommend improvements to navigation and layout
- Avoid paid plugins (stick to free plugins only please!)
- Advise on implementation and cutover strategy (we do not currently have a staging site, but are open to your recommendations and discussion)
- Provide basic guidance to Extra Life Winnipeg team for future updates

Impact and Background

In 2025, Extra Lifers in Manitoba raised over $92,000 for CHFM and the program is still growing. We have raised over $870,000 since 2012.

Skills Required

- Proven experience building and managing websites using WordPress
- Familiarity with WordPress themes, page builders, and plugin management
- Understanding of responsive web design and mobile optimization
- Ability to evaluate design and recommend modern UI/UX improvements
- Attention to detail
- Strong visual design skills & ability to work within defined brand guidelines

Time Commitment and Engagement

Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+.





Time Commitment: Remote volunteering, flexible hours. This is a one-time engagement to revamp our website and provide basic training on future site maintenance to our team. Interested applicants have the option to stay on and volunteer casually on an ongoing basis to maintain the website, approximately 2–4 hours per month or less.

Location

Winnipeg. Available areas include: Assiniboine South, Downtown, Elmwood, Fort Garry, Inkster, Point Douglas, River East, River Heights, Seven Oaks, St. Boniface, St. James-Assiniboia, St. Vital, Transcona.
