We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of our organization. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making through timely and reliable financial reporting.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Within this role you will be responsible for:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements;
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis;
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (ASPE) and internal policies;
- Maintain and improve internal controls and financial processes;
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning;
- Partner with operational teams to provide financial insights and analysis;
- Support external audits and coordinate with auditors;
- Complete internal audits and work with staff;
- Assist in system implementations, integrations, and process improvements;
- Contribute to special projects such as acquisitions, integrations, or system upgrades;
- Oversee the company expense platform (Concur);
- Aiding in the payroll process;
- Occasional evening and weekend work will be required;
- Capable of lifting up to 50-pound boxes.
Qualifications
- At least 3-7 of progressive accounting/finance experience;
- High attention to detail and organization;
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles;
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Syspro, Microsoft D365, and Tagetik is an asset);
- Advanced proficiency in Excel;
- Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Reliable with previous good attendance record;
- Reliable transportation.
