Bemac Collision Group has prospect for a Glass Technician to join their team in a well-established, progressively growing group of companies. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Glass Technician is responsible for the repair, installation, and removal of automotive glass on your vehicle. The technician is responsible for the careful storage and handling of a variety of glasses, ensuring that proper safety equipment is used at all times.
Responsibilities
- Using primer to prime all damaged areas of windshields and car windows.
- Weatherproofing glass by applying a chemical treatment to the outer surfaces and installing rubber weather seals around glass edges.
- Traveling to various locations to assess as well as repair or replace customers' windshields and windows.
- Removing moldings, wipers, screws, bolts, and clips before glass installation replacing them thereafter.
- Injecting resin into small chips or cracks and heating the damaged areas using a heat source.
- Removing all dirt and debris from windshields and windows before beginning repair or weatherproofing treatments.
- Using clips, moldings, and adhesives to affix custom‑cut glass to customers’ vehicles.
- Removing broken or damaged glass windshields or window glass from motor vehicles, using hand tools to remove screws from frames holding glass.
- Replacing or adjusting motorized or manual window‑raising mechanisms.
- Selecting appropriate tools, safety equipment, and parts according to job requirements.
- Checking for moisture or contamination in damaged areas, drying out any moisture prior to making repairs, and keeping damaged areas dry until repairs are complete.
- Cooling or warming glass in the event of temperature extremes.
- Installing replacement glass in vehicles after the old glass has been removed and all necessary preparations have been made.
- Coordinating damaged vehicles with other departments to figure out what type of work needs to be done.
Qualifications
- Automotive Glass experience is required.
- Proven experience working as an Auto Glass Technician.
- Sound knowledge of automotive glass repair and installation techniques.
- Good manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
- Effective communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Detail‑oriented.
