Our Enterprise Continuity Management team operates in a complex risk environment, managing threats such as technology failures, cyber incidents, and natural disasters. This role reports to the Director of Enterprise Continuity Management and focuses on Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery programs within the broader Operational Resilience framework.

What will you do?

- Act as a second line risk subject matter expert in Business Continuity Management, Disaster Recovery Management, and Operational Resilience (Technology Resilience).
- Provide governance and oversight to Sun Life’s business groups to ensure a Technology Resilience strategy is in place and evidence of readiness is demonstrated.
- Conduct second line quality assurance reviews of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Operational Resilience documentation, including plans, impact assessments, and test results.
- Develop and communicate recommendations for improvement based on quality assessments.
- Work closely with business units to discern technical recovery capabilities and operational resilience requirements.
- Establish Disaster Recovery controls and coordinate with IT/DR teams to maintain effective recovery plans for production environments.
- Ensure recovery strategies are viable, support recoverability, and ensure service continuity.
- Address cross‑functional dependencies in all plans and maintain adherence to regulatory expectations.
- Improve operating procedures, guidelines,



and templates that support Sun Life’s Business Continuity Policy and Operational Resilience Framework.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to streamline processes across continuity initiatives.
- Support scenario testing to ensure business resilience within defined tolerances and recovery objectives.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and report to management and regulatory bodies.
- Govern Technology‑related third‑party Exit and Contingency Plans and assess supplier readiness.
- Manage and report policy non‑compliances related to Business Continuity requirements.
- Conduct reviews, training, and Due Diligence activities with Risk Officers and Business Continuity Contacts.
- Track unit deliverables and maintain accurate reporting.
- Provide KPI and KRI reporting on program risks to policy contacts.
- Support the Enterprise Continuity team in enhancing the Fusion RM business continuity platform.
- Embed policy requirements into operational directives and collaborate on new policy development.

What do you need to succeed?

- University Degree.
- Business Continuity and/or Disaster Recovery designation.
- PMP/PMI Certification or equivalent.
- 5+ years of program management experience in Business Continuity, Crisis Management, or Disaster Recovery.
- Experience in Operational Resilience governance and risk management focused on Technology Resilience.
- 5+ years of supplier management experience with Technology‑related third‑party governance.
- Broad IT generalist experience including SAN/Storage, Network LAN/WAN/IP, Mainframe, AS/400, Windows/Unix, Citrix.
- Background with data centre recovery tools such as Airgap and SafeGuard Storage.
- Several years managing and executing Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity testing.
- 2+ years experience with financial institutions or insurance industries.
- Technical aptitude in Salesforce (Fusion Platform), Tableau, and knowledge of Ariba.




- Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and conflict‑management skills.
- Solid analytical, reporting, and process‑management skills.
- Strong interpersonal customer/client focus skills.
- Familiarity with industry best practices in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving abilities with transparent problem identification and remediation action development.

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience with a life insurance company.
- 2+ years of management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or related field; or 5‑10 years of equivalent IT experience.
- Experience presenting to large groups.
- Experience with Quality Assurance.
- Large‑scale data centre recovery and test execution across multiple technology sets.
- Experience with risk management frameworks and the three‑lines of defence model.
- In‑depth understanding of Disaster Recovery in hybrid on‑prem and cloud environments.

Base Pay range: 90,000 – 140,000. Eligibility for incentive plans is discretionary and subject to individual performance. Certain sales‑focused roles may have additional incentives.
