We are currently partnering with a global, publicly traded organization to recruit a Corporate Accounting Manager based in Toronto. This organization operates across multiple international markets and continues to evolve its finance structure to support a diverse set of revenue streams and business initiatives.
This is a hands-on leadership role within the controllership function, offering exposure to a dynamic accounting environment with varying activity levels tied to business cycles. The position provides long‑term growth potential and visibility across multiple areas of the finance organization.
The Opportunity
The Corporate Accounting Manager will play a key role in overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes within a public‑company environment. This individual will lead a team while working closely with cross‑functional finance groups and operational stakeholders to support both recurring reporting requirements and ad‑hoc business initiatives.
The role combines technical accounting, team leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration. It is well suited for someone coming from public accounting or a large organization who is looking to transition into an operating environment with ownership over financial results and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial close processes
- Oversee and review balance sheet reconciliations across key accounts including cash, prepaids,
receivables, fixed assets, and deferred revenue
- Analyze and review multiple revenue streams and assess appropriate accounting treatment
- Collaborate with internal teams including Financial Reporting, FP&A;, Treasury, A/R, A/P, and operational departments
- Support the accounting and analysis of new business initiatives and transactions
- Assist with intercompany reconciliations and related journal entries
- Review and assess accounting treatment for lease arrangements and other contractual agreements
- Monitor customer accounts and adjust revenue recognition where required
- Support internal and external audit processes and respond to audit requests
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support workflow optimization
- Participate in special projects within the finance function as required
Qualifications
- 5+ years of total experience in public accounting and/or a large, complex organization
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS (U.S. GAAP exposure considered an asset)
- Experience working in a public‑company or similarly structured reporting environment
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- High attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities
