Provides technical support including, but not limited to, power systems, controls, applications, repairs, installations, calibrations and maintenance.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Technical

- Performs assigned basic instrumentation, electrical or mechanical tasks.
- Provides support including basic wiring, equipment assembly and calibrations

Maintenance

- Assists in the maintenance of customers’ systems and plants to ensure smooth operation.
- Performs basic onsite tests and assessments using available tools.

Administration and Finance

- Assists with basic project management.
- Responsible for verbal and written communication with clients, suppliers and co-workers.

Departmental Support

- Ensures work is completed in a protected manner.
- Provides clear communication to supervisors and project managers.
- Promotes on the job safety on all occasions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The position requires enrollment in an Apprenticeship program in the 1st to 2nd Year or a Technologist Student. At a minimum, a Grade 12 diploma is required.

- The quality of work, decisions made, and documentation submitted reflects the incumbent’s qualifications.
- Peer reviews (e.g. manager review of the work) confirm expectations are met.
- Assigned projects or work assignments are delivered on time and on budget.
- Resources are efficiently utilized.




- The quality of the delivered work meets expectations.
- Issues of concern or importance are communicated to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Compliance with relevant policies, procedures, standards and practices, legislation and codes meet expectations.

JOB SCOPE

Provides services on projects or at customer locations. Possesses basic experience and capability gained through in-depth involvement in assignments and can use this expertise to function proficiently on TPS customer sites or within a TPS department. Holds sole responsibility for own decisions and actions.

Planning often involves coordination of service delivery through others, and integration of service delivery across departments, requiring the establishment of numerous, strong working relations.

EFFORT

Attention to detail and the need for concentration over sustained periods are required for several of the tasks assigned. Juggles multiple projects, details, and deadlines. The workload is heavy and constant, and all work involves a deadline. Interruptions are the norm. Innovation is required when solving problems and exploring options. The ability to deal effectively with a wide range of contacts including customers, troubleshoot and make decisions on a variety of day-to-day issues practically and expediently are key factors for success in this position.
