About the Position
$54-$79 per hour (dependent on status and experience)

We are seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join our community rehabilitation team. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or expertise in dysphagia management. We are looking for an individual based in Greater Vancouver with potential to travel to outreach areas around the province periodically.
In this role, you will provide assessment and consultation of safe eating, drinking, and swallowing for adults with developmental disabilities living in the community. You will work closely within a supportive interprofessional team to deliver coordinated, client-centered care. Exposure to instrumental swallowing studies is an asset.

About the Role
We are seeking a collaborative Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or expertise in dysphagia management. We are looking for an individual based in Greater Vancouver who is willing to travel to outreach areas around the province periodically.
In this role,
you will provide assessment and consultation to address physical and rehabilitation needs, with a particular focus on supporting safe eating, drinking, and swallowing for adults with developmental disabilities living in the community. You will work closely within a supportive interprofessional team to deliver coordinated, client-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized dysphagia assessment and support for adults with special needs related to neurological, developmental, and complex chronic health conditions in the Greater Vancouver area and across BC, through in-person, outreach, and virtual telehealth services.
- Work together with the client, family, and their care team to complete dysphagia assessments, provide recommendations, and coordinate equipment provision to support the individuals’ safe eating and drinking.
- Work collaboratively with other health professionals involved in each client’s care to ensure coordinated, person-centred service delivery.
- Participate in and contribute to formal and informal education related to safe eating, swallowing and mealtime practices.
- Prepare clear, thorough, and timely documentation and reports.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Speech Language Pathology from a recognized institution
- Registration with the College of Health & Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC)
- Based in lower mainland with regional travel as required
- BC Driver’s License
- Professional Liability Insurance
Beneficial Experience and Interests
- Strong interest in dysphagia assessment and management, experience is an asset, but orientation and mentoring available.
- Experience and/or interest inworking with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Community or residential care experience
- Exposure to instrumental swallow studies
- Collaborative and team-oriented – working effectively within an interdisciplinary team and with clients, families, and support staff.
- Excellent observational skills and keen attention to detail
- Solid communication skills with clients, families, and care teams
- Client-centred and compassionate – promoting dignity, autonomy, and meaningful participation for adults with developmental disabilities.
- Strong clinical reasoning – using evidence-informed practice to assess and manage a range of client files
- Committed to ongoing learning and knowledge translation
