The Financial Consultant Early Career contributes to the overall success of MD Financial Consultant in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Reporting to the Regional Manager, as a Financial Consultant, you will assist MD clients and their families in achieving their personal financial goals. Working as a partner with MD’s Specialist Advisors, you will leverage your years of experience and strong client focus to prepare comprehensive financial plans and specific investment strategies for clients. You will identify and develop new opportunities to prospect and grow the client base, while ensuring retention of clients through strong relationship building and the development of comprehensive financial plans.
Responsibilities
- Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Prepare and execute quarterly business plans to aid in the meeting of individual, regional and corporate targets.
- Actively participate in prospecting.
- Complete financial planning in the areas of risk management, estate planning, liability management, cashflow/budgeting, education funding, tax, retirement planning, investment management, practice management and goal setting.
- Prepare comprehensive financial plans and specific investment strategies based on MD Management developed and managed optimal portfolio ranges.
- Understand and comply with all industry regulations and MD's program and process requirements.
- Conduct financial planning seminars and information meetings throughout the region to inform clients about recent strategies, legislative changes and MD Management's programs.
- Increase visibility of products and services through contact with centers of influence.
- Keep current on issues affecting the financial affairs of clients, including a general knowledge of income tax, investment trends and products, as well as any other issues impacting clients.
- Provide input to marketing and management concerning potential new products and services.
- Travel within established travel circuit.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution or four years of relevant experience.
- CIRO licensed as a Registered Representative (CIRO-RR) including completion of the Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam (CIRE), Retail Securities Exam (RSE).
- Completion of the Group Annuity Sector (PQPAV) (Quebec offices only); Life License (LLQP) (all other provinces), and the willingness to complete other regulatory requirements including RR Dealer Member Training and Conduct Training Course.
- Previous lending experience will be considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of Financial Planning.
- Good product knowledge.
- A demonstrated track record of above average sales in a financial services or related environment.
- 2+ years financial planning experience within the financial services industry.
- Strong marketing skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
