Are you someone who loves both a perfectly organized spreadsheet and a beautifully designed social post? Do you enjoy switching between data, systems, and creative work throughout your day?
At the Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta (IBAA), this isn’t a “mostly admin” or “mostly creative” role—it’s truly both .
We’re looking for a Communications Coordinator who thrives in a role with a 50/50 split between administrative responsibilities and creative content development . You’ll spend just as much time working in Excel and managing member data as you will designing graphics, writing copy, and creating digital content.

What You’ll Be Doing
This role is intentionally designed to be evenly balanced, requiring equal strengths in organization and creativity.
Membership & Administration
- Be the first point of contact for member and public inquiries (email and phone)
- Manage member profiles, records, invoicing, and correspondence with high accuracy
- Audit member listings to ensure accurate record keeping
- Lead the membership renewal process, including Excel-based data management
- Coordinate timelines, updates, and communications with internal and external stakeholders
- Support new member onboarding and assist with website/member portal inquiries
Social Media & Creative
- Create and publish engaging content across Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Design graphics and marketing materials using Canva and Adobe tools
- Shoot and edit short-and-long form video (Reels, Shorts, and more)
- Manage scheduling, engagement, and social media performance tracking
- Provide support with livestreams (AGMs, town halls, events)
- Assist with production of creative assets such as templates, printed materials, ads
- Write content for our platforms, e.g. blogs
What You Bring
You’re someone who is just as comfortable working in spreadsheets as you are in design tools, and you enjoy both.
Core Strengths
- Strong attention to detail across data, invoicing, and written content
- Confidence working in Excel and administrative systems , paired with a creative eye for design
- Excellent time management and ability to balance two very different types of work
- Clear, professional communication skills
- Adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable shifting between analytical and creative tasks
Personal Qualities

Tools & Experience
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with Canva, Hootsuite, and social media platforms
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator) is an asset
- Familiarity with MailChimp is a bonus
- Experience in video shooting and editing is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Administration, Design, Journalism, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Communications and/or Administration
