Days and nights, including weekends, 12 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements

- Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Ability to perform BCLS to the College of Nurses Standards.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this knowledge in the clinical setting.
- Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the care of the general patient in the unit and the ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and a willingness to actively participate in departmental education activities.




- Demonstrates the ability to assess the patient's learning needs and plan appropriate teaching.
- Demonstrates a respectful attitude to patients, the public and colleagues.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health professionals.
- Ability to work autonomously and within the multidisciplinary team in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Demonstrates an understanding and a willingness to participate in self‑evaluation.
- Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).

Preferred Qualifications

- Two (2) years medical surgical experience.
- Current consolidation experience in cardiovascular care.
- Experience with cardiac monitoring / arrhythmia interpretation.
- Recent course in coronary care, critical care or UOHI Cardiac Nursing Series.
- Experience reading and interpreting 12 lead ECG.
- Member of RNAO.
- Member of CCCN.

Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French‑ and English‑speaking clients.
