Job Description
Wood is recruiting for a Mechanical Construction Superintendent to join our Minerals & Metals business at a construction site in northern Saskatchewan.
The Role
Wood Group Mining & Metals is seeking a Mechanical Construction Superintendent for the Denison Wheeler River Phoenix project site near Williams Lake, SK. The successful candidate will liaise with the Integrated Project Team, client and contractor personnel to support the construction and commissioning stages of the project. As a senior construction leader, you will supervise contractors tasked with the protected and effective completion of mechanical and piping scopes on site.
Responsibilities
- Manage the installation of mechanical and piping scopes of work on site
- Manage site Lock-out/Tag-Out program related to energy isolation on electrical systems
- Interface with inspectors; produce and manage reports and installation certification
- Field manage multiple contractors on site
- Monitor contractor performance ensuring compliance with all project objectives – HSSE, cost, schedule, quality and on-time completion of their scope
- Produce daily reports against progress of their portion of overall project schedule
- Develop team relationships to ensure smooth interaction between parties responsible for work identification, planning & scheduling, resource provision, and execution of work
- Control nonconforming products, services and subsequent repair or rework until corrective actions are implemented
- Ensure compliance with established safety and environmental programs to execute services with zero harm to people, setting and plant
- Monitor, participate and lead safety performance of contractors; implement steps to rectify deficiencies
- Ensure safety reporting, incidents and near misses are reported timely and accurately in accordance with standard procedure
- Maintain thorough and comprehensive records of actions and events, documenting necessary details
- Ensure a high standard of discipline support is provided across the project consistently
- Assist in the identification, documentation and communication of the organization’s deliverables and dependencies across the project
- Clearly identify cross-project interfaces
- Support the turnover process from construction to commissioning
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Full certification in one or more disciplines, at least one being Mechanical or Piping
- 6+ years’ project experience in Construction Management
- 10+ years construction experience in Mechanical or Piping disciplineSuperior knowledge of construction and HSSE processes
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Proven working knowledge of mechanical and piping equipment and material
- Proven experience with mechanical and piping testing methodologies
- General knowledge of construction goals, especially those of other disciplines
- Previous experience working on large‑scale industrial projects
- Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood
