Overview

Hi there, we’re Article. Since 2013, we have been redefining the furniture industry one sofa at a time, it’s not easy — it requires solving challenging, meaningful problems. This is where you come in, as the Category Specialist , you’ll support the growth of our Decor lines (rugs, pillows, and softlines) by building product lines that grow our catalog, increase market share, and drive profitability.

Why We Need You

As part of the Category team, you’ll be helping to drive what trends are rising in the furniture and decor world. And help analyze which new products bring the most value to Article’s customers, expanding our decor assortment. The Category Specialist will also be responsible for ensuring effective translation and execution of the Product vision in go-live and campaign product launches. You’ll be part of a supportive team that will help you sharpen, learn, and grow in the Product Category world. You’ll get to learn from a diverse team of Category and Merchandising professionals.

About The Team

You’ll join a collaborative and highly cross-functional Category team working across furniture and decor to shape what Article brings to market. Within the team, you’ll be surrounded by a mix of operators and builders who care deeply about product quality, customer experience, and continuous improvement. We question assumptions, dive deep into the details, and support each other to deliver strong outcomes.

This is a hybrid role, with the flexibility to work from the office three days per week of your choosing. It’s a team where you’ll have the opportunity to learn quickly, contribute meaningfully, and build strong cross-functional relationships while helping bring new products to life.

What You’ll Do

Product Analysis

- Participate in the product performance review process, suggesting product development initiatives to improve catalog performance.
- Perform analysis of competitor collections and evaluate new opportunities.
- Perform market pricing analysis documents for new product development.
- Track sale pricing and communicate key inventory updates, including sellouts, to cross-functional teams.
- Participate in First Order evaluation and placement.

Product Launch

- Communicate product go-live timelines to the Marketing team and ensure that they have all product data and information around the product vision needed for campaign planning.
- Understand the big picture view around current products, timelines, changes in plans, and marketing campaigns and communicate changes timely and effectively to all cross-functional partners.
- Suggest marketing story ideas for the product plan.
- Partner with Supply chain and Creative teams to ensure samples are on track to meet campaign shoot timelines.
- Ensure all product attributes are updated,



accurate, and clearly communicated to the photography team.
- Oversee the SKU setup process to ensure product pages contain accurate information and reflect the Product team vision.
- Partner with the copy team on validating new product and fabric names.
- Suggest ‘goes well with’ products that complement new products for go-live.
- Suggest improvements for website and marketing teams to optimize sales.
- Participate in the SKU and trend planning process with the Product Creation Team.

Communication

- Ensure effective communication to cross-functional partners of new product features via Product Design Guides.
- Support the Customer-facing team with training pre-Launch of new products and continue the support post-launch as inquiries come up.
- Ensure feedback from Customer Care and Website reviews are shared with the Product Development Team.
- Provide feedback on the product page, assembly instructions, hang tag, and cut sheet creation to ensure accurate product descriptions, feature lists, and care instructions that anticipate customer needs.
- Maintain database information to reflect price changes, promotions, and phaseouts.

Who You Are

- 2+ years of experience in a category, merchandising, buyer, product or related positions.
- You’re someone who gets into the details and analyzes best options before making a decision.
- You move fast but stay organized.
- You see a design and style, and you understand why and how it would fit into Article Product offerings.
- We use G Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Google Docs, Meet, etc) to work and Slack to collaborate and communicate, with your choice of Mac or PC device.
- Strong Excel skills
- Legally able to work in Canada.
- Completion of criminal background check.
