Lead Environmental Engineer or Geoscientist - Contaminated Sites

Job Description
We are seeking a Senior or Lead Environmental Engineer / Geoscientist to guide complex environmental and contaminated sites initiatives across northern and western Canada.
In this role you will:
- Lead multidisciplinary environmental and contaminated site assessments supporting mining, infrastructure, community development, and northern programs, including investigation planning, field oversight, data interpretation, and reporting, with senior experts supporting high‑complexity decisions.
- Apply advanced contaminated‑sites expertise to build conceptual site models, guide delineation, evaluate remedial options, and support risk‑assessment processes at a Lead level.
- Direct and review field programs—drilling, sampling, monitoring, and geohazard assessments—in northern and remote settings.
- Produce clear, defensible technical reports that support regulatory filings and major client decisions.
- Collaborate with engineering, ecology, mining and Indigenous engagement teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Mentor junior and intermediate staff in environmental methods, contaminated‑sites practice, QA/QC, and regulatory requirements.
- Build strong relationships with territorial, provincial, and Indigenous partners through open, collaborative project delivery.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Significant hands‑on experience leading contaminated‑sites assessments (Phase I/II/III ESA, delineation, remediation support) with autonomy to guide project‑level decisions.
- CSAP (Contaminated Sites Approved Professional)
designation preferred but not required; strong contaminated sites expertise and eligibility for future CSAP advancement are assets.
- Professional registration (P.Eng. or P.Geo.) or eligibility for registration in BC and/or Yukon.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental, Geological, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geoscience, or related discipline with environmental focus.
- Significant experience (5‑10+ years) working in northern, remote, Indigenous, or industrial settings with complex multi‑media contamination issues.
- Solid project management capabilities including financial and scope oversight, client‑facing interactions, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Expertise in contaminated‑sites characterization, conceptual site model development, remediation technologies, and environmental regulatory requirements in BC, YT, and western/northern Canada.
- Experience conducting and overseeing field programs in remote or northern regions.
- A collaborative approach, commitment to safety, and strong problem‑solving instincts tailored to complex environmental conditions and multidisciplinary teams.
Compensation
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $122,900 – $162,800
- MB & ON: $112,100 – $154,400
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $111,000 – $147,400
