Senior Business Development Representative
Hybrid Role – working from our Kitchener office 3 days per week.
Job Summary
The Business Development Representative promotes D2L Products and Services, establishes customer relationships, and provides qualified, motivated leads to Sales teams. The role focuses on the education and corporate sectors. The successful candidate will gain expertise in accurately capturing and qualifying leads, managing a sales pipeline, and achieving quarterly revenue targets.
How will I make an impact?
- Be a subject matter expert and advocate for prospecting strategies and CRM processes
- Act as a mentor, helping others develop Bus Dev skills
- Assist in training and onboarding new hires
- Maintain the BD team course in Spark
- Develop effective sales kits for the Bus Dev team in collaboration with Marketing
- Exceed objectives within your assigned territory
- Deliver D2L's unique value proposition and create solution vision with prospects
- Participate in outbound calling campaigns to generate sales opportunities
- Accurately capture and qualify leads from tradeshows, webinars, inbound calls, and other marketing initiatives
- Follow up with existing D2L contacts and develop them into sales prospects
- Distribute leads and make qualified appointments for Sales Executives
- Monitor and respond to D2L Sales inbox and website inquiries, redirecting customer requests for information
- Create and update lead generation emails and phone scripts
- Update customer interactions through the CRM tool
- Complete sales reports and present findings to executive management
- Conduct market research and stay updated on product,
industry knowledge, competitors, and industry trends
- Represent D2L at occasional tradeshows; some travel required
What you’ll bring to the role
- 1+ years of Business Development experience (previous experience in eLearning, education sector, enterprise software, or high‑tech solutions preferred)
- Interest in pursuing a sales career within a fast‑paced, constantly changing environment
- Pro‑active and goal‑oriented; consistently maintain customer activity to generate sales leads and meet quarterly objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time‑management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work independently
- Strong interpersonal and customer‑orientation skills with the ability to influence decision makers
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and collaboratively within a team environment
- Degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, or related field
- AI Skills:
- Experience using AI‑powered sales engagement and CRM tools to optimize prospecting and outreach
- Ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate email drafting, lead research, and outreach personalization
- Comfortable interpreting AI‑generated insights and using them to prioritize outreach and follow‑up
- Curious mindset with a passion for experimenting with tools that improve workflow efficiency, including AI‑based solutions
Base Salary Range
$50,000 — $70,000 CAD
