We bring diverse backgrounds, skills, and expertise and create a caring culture where everyone can thrive. Through teamwork and collaboration, we’re building a stronger, more resilient Stantec every day.
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to join a project team that will be designing new workflows and business processes to optimize and simplify collaboration between Stantec Project Managers and Project Accountants (PM2PA). This will involve enhancing and integrating several existing applications (and possibly building new applications) and their databases with a focus on the on-premises Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) database and potentially integration with Oracle Cloud services in the future.
In this senior-level role, you will drive the strategic data architecture for the PM2PA application. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the PM2PA data environment – including integration points with our on-premises Oracle EBS system, multiple custom applications and various data sources (including the Stantec Data Store (SDS), a centralized data store with the ability to serve EBS data to consuming applications, and replicate updates back into EBS from those applications).
As a key technical leader, the Senior Data Architect will collaborate with a cross-functional team to align data solutions with PM2PA business objectives, and act as a strategic advisor on leveraging Oracle EBS, various data repositories (e.g., SDS) and potentially cloud technologies to meet the needs of this strategic project. This role requires both deep technical expertise and robust leadership to guide the enterprise through complex data integration and optimization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Architecture Strategy: Develop and drive the overall data architecture strategy for PM2PA, including designing scalable data models, data integration workflows, and data governance frameworks that meet enterprise standards.
- Oracle EBS & Cloud Integration: Lead the future integration of PM2PA business processes and workflows with Oracle Fusion Cloud, architecting data exchange between EBS and OCI or Oracle Cloud applications using tools like Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) or Oracle SOA Suite.
- System Performance & Maintenance: Oversee performance optimization, scalability and reliability of PM2PA data flows; tune Oracle databases and other data sources, and plan capacity for growth with disaster recovery and high availability in place.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure robust data security measures and compliance protocols across PM2PA, Oracle EBS and integrated cloud environments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with IT Infrastructure & Operations, Oracle DBAs, Software Solutions developers, Business Analysts, and Project Management to plan and execute PM2PA data projects; coordinate data migrations during EBS upgrades or cloud adoption and communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 10+ years in data architecture or related IT roles, with hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions for Oracle E-Business Suite environments; track record leading complex integration or ERP data initiatives in large organizations.
- Oracle EBS Expertise: Deep knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) R12 modules, data structures, and architecture; familiarity with EBS schema, concurrent processing, and EBS configuration from a data perspective.
- Data Modelling: Strong relational (3NF) and dimensional (star schema) modeling; ability to design ER models and document designs; knowledge of data warehouse concepts for EBS data extraction.
- Integration & Middleware: Experience with Oracle integration technologies (OIC, Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Service Bus, ODI); building data interfaces (XML, REST) and syncing data between EBS and other apps in real-time or batch mode.
- OCI & Cloud: Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure; experience deploying/managing OCI services and using ADW or cloud databases with EBS; understanding cloud networking and OCI security.
- Data Management & Governance: Familiarity with data management tools, data cleansing, MDM, data standards, dictionaries, and governance policies for ERP environments.
- Analytics & Reporting Tools: Experience with OBIEE, Discoverer,
or Oracle Analytics Cloud to design and deliver reports/dashboards from EBS data; SQL reporting skill.
- Operating Systems & Scripting: Proficiency with Linux; scripting (shell, Python) for automation; familiarity with EBS utilities is a plus.
- Architecture & Standards: Knowledge of enterprise architecture practices; familiarity with microservices, API-led or event-driven architectures; TOGAF is desirable.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management; ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and influence cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Certifications: Oracle OCP/OCM, OCI Architect, Oracle EBS certificates; TOGAF or similar framework certifications are beneficial.
- Enterprise Architecture & Methodologies: Experience applying TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture methods and governance practices.
- ERP Migration/Upgrade Experience: Hands-on ERP migration/upgrade experience, including migrating EBS to Oracle Cloud or upgrading to R12.2+, and large data migrations to cloud data warehouses.
- Additional Domain Knowledge: Experience with integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi); knowledge of MDM or data quality tools is a plus.
