MAKING AN IMPACT
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, the Reporting Specialist will be responsible for the timely submission of statutory filings. This position proactively develops and streamlines processes between different teams across the organization. In addition, this position is a “core audit team” member that provides support to the audit schedules and samples and responds to audit inquiries.
This position liaises with a wide variety of internal parties, staff, and senior management.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Statutory Filings
- Prepares the statutory filings including T3010, Form 990, and statistic surveys.
- Oversees the preparation of monthly taxes returns.
- Investigates, researches, and responds to taxes and external reporting inquiries.
- Streamlines and improves the automation of the process as needed.
- Support the lottery process and ensure compliance
- Reviews a lottery licence application and financial reporting on a lottery, and ensures compliance with the lottery rules and regulations.
- Provides training on rules and regulations for lotteries to fundraising team.
- Responds to inquiries related to the lotteries and audit as required.
- Other responsibilities
- Reviews grants payable reconciliation and grant reporting.
- Promotes knowledge sharing within the team.
- Documents processes and provides training as needed.
- Supports the Senior Manager, Finance in coordinating, preparing and attending meetings with stakeholders.
- Takes part in special projects, ad hoc reporting and other duties as required. Assists in the review of journal entries prepared by accountants.

Qualifications
- A university degree in relevant discipline; bachelor's in business administration, accounting or finance. CPA designation an asset.
- More than 3 years of similar experience is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Advanced MS Excel skills are required.
- Familiarity with Accounting/reporting systems (complex systems e.g. NetSuite, PBCS and Salesforce preferred).
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills, commitment to meeting deadlines, ability to prioritize, and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; able to identify issues, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate changes.
- Continually seeks process improvements and efficiencies; initiates new ideas to increase overall team effectiveness; committed to self-development and sharing best practices.
- Enthusiastic, positive, solutions-focused with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is highly preferred, with French being an asset due to the organization’s nationwide operations and the need for effective communication across various regions.
