Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring an Area Lead, Major Projects on a permanent basis in our Health Safety and Compliance team.
This position requires on-site work and is based in either Regina, SK or Calgary, AB .
Lead the delivery of high‑impact, multi‑million‑dollar capital projects that shape the future of our operations. As Area Lead – Major Projects, you’ll guide a diverse team of Project Managers through complex greenfield and brownfield developments, owning everything from strategy and governance to execution and close‑out. What you’ll do
- Lead and develop a team of Project Managers, fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability, and high engagement while serving as a subject matter expert in project management, engineering, and contractor oversight.
- Oversee the end‑to‑end delivery of a complex capital project portfolio, ensuring alignment with business priorities, capital governance, budgets, schedules, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, Request for Expenditures, and performance reporting, proactively managing risks, cost trends, schedule variances, and contractor/consultant performance.
- Provide strategic and technical oversight of engineering and design deliverables in partnership with the engineering team to ensure fit‑for‑purpose, safe, and reliable long‑term operation.
- Lead pre‑construction and construction execution in partnership with construction and project controls teams, ensuring compliance with safety standards, OH&S; requirements, quality expectations, and successful commissioning and turnover.
Who you’ll work with
The Team: You will work closely with the Major Projects team, a multi‑disciplinary group of professionals supporting the planning and execution of large‑scale capital initiatives. You will have Project Managers as direct reports and provide indirect leadership to a diverse team including project engineers, skilled trades, supply chain, health & safety, and construction management (EPCM) resources. You will report to the Senior Project Manager, Major Projects, collaborating closely through regular reviews and strategic discussions. This team fosters a culture focused on safety leadership, accountability, collaboration, and disciplined execution, with an emphasis on delivering high‑quality, reliable outcomes aligned with corporate and project objectives.

Who you are
You are looking for a career in Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) & Sustainability and:
- Have 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in the petroleum and/or the oil and gas industry with leading diverse/large scale projects.
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or its’ equivalent from a recognized institution (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
- Professional engineering status recognized by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) or other provincial jurisdictions is preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification recognized by the Project Management Institute is preferred.
