Additional Information
A Specialized Direct Support Professional works as scheduled by the Regional Manager and/or his/her designee. His/her schedule may be either part or full time, depending on the needs of the clients and Adjoin. Overtime may be required as dictated by operational needs, however, no holiday or overtime may be worked without the prior approval of a supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Maintain current knowledge of client’s needs. Maintain positive communications and relationships with his/her supervisor, clients, landlords, employers, involved members of families, Regional Center, D.O.R.
and other individuals in the community. Maintain crisis prevention certification and apply principles as required.
- Facilitate the client’s inclusion in positive community experiences. Transport clients to appointments, community activities, or other locations as needed, ensuring safety and timeliness during travel.
- Implement behavior management plans and individual training and support programs under the direction of the case responsible person.
- Document required activity records, reports, incidents, and client evaluations in a timely, complete, and accurate manner as required.
- Address challenging behaviors proactively and respectfully, using methods outlined in plans and training.
- Oversee client activities and environment throughout shift to ensure the fulfillment of health and safety needs.
- Assess individuals in crisis to determine their needs. Advance client’s decision‑making, productivity and participation in a range of daily activities.
- Provide specialized transportation services to individuals through the TRIPS program.
- Participate in the evaluation of the client through completion of task analysis and other requested assessment devices.
- Communicate, both orally and in written form,
with other members of a team to improve program efficiency or overall crisis intervention success.
Requirements
- Age 18 years of age or older.
- Experience working with individuals in crisis required.
- Successful completion of pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
- Employer‑paid employee and dependent life insurance (100%).
- Competitive medical coverage.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Position requires mobile smart device; reasonable reimbursement provided.
- Certification in an approved First‑Aid and CPR class; or successful completion within 45 days of the date of hire.
- Insured, registered vehicle in safe working condition, and proof of current CA driver’s license.
- Schedule may be either part or full time, depending on the needs of the clients and Adjoin.
- Physical evaluations may be required dependent upon specific assigned duties or compliance requirements and may include a TB test and/or a lift and transfer test.
