Reporting to the Program Manager, CISTR, and working closely with senior staff, functional and technical team members, the successful candidate will perform all aspects related to the management of the assigned project(s). This includes providing quality management and assurance services as described below.

What you will be doing

- Quality Oversight: Ensure quality standards are maintained across projects and programs by continuously monitoring and validating processes.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage risks related to project implementation, making necessary reviews and amendments to architectural, technical and implementation plans.
- Collaboration: Work closely with vendors and internal departments to uphold the quality mandates of overall projects and the program.
- Advisory Role: Advise project and program managers on achieving quality objectives, particularly in technical implementations.
- Solution Acceptance: Participate in iterative solution acceptance activities throughout the project lifecycle, including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and cutover validation.
- Testing and Reporting: Create testing strategies and develop and execute test plans and test cases, oversee testing activities, and report on quality metrics and outcomes.
- Decision-making: Make recommendations to program management and business stakeholders regarding outcomes of testing and whether projects need to resolve additional issues prior to go-live, which may affect schedule or budget.
- Team Role: This role requires solid collaboration skills and a keen eye for detail to ensure that all quality standards are met and the integrity of TransLink’s projects and programs is maintained.

Duties

- Team Leadership: Manage a diverse team of QA analysts and subject matter experts internally and externally; well-developed interpersonal skills and business acumen are critical.
- Standards and Controls: Work with TransLink QA Manager to administer and/or improve standards, processes and controls to serve as a framework for quality control.
- Leadership in QA: Provide leadership and expertise in the application of quality management principles and practices.
- Quality Metrics:



Identify and implement quality instruments to enable measurement of quality performance and ensure compliance with quality assurance practices.
- Requirements Review: Review background material to understand work purpose and objectives, documented requirements, and/or User Stories.
- QA Strategy: Work closely with the project team, system integrators, product vendors/owners, and stakeholders to develop an overall QA/Test Strategy and Product Test Plans.
- Test Planning and Automation: Maintain Test Plans; design, develop, and update Test Cases, Test Scenarios and automated Test Scripts for System Integration, Functional, Regression, Performance Testing, and User Acceptance Testing.
- Hypercare Oversight: Oversee testing required for the hypercare/warranty phase where defects are identified.
- Risk Identification: Participate in the identification of project risks and in mitigating technical, schedule and other project risks.
- Stakeholder Communication: Proactively collaborate with the project team and communicate with stakeholders to ensure project effort proceeds efficiently.
- Test Data and Environment: Oversee the preparation of test data and the setup of the test environment.
- Automation and Execution: Oversee the creation and execution of automated Test Cases and Test Scenarios.
- Test Monitoring: Oversee the management and monitoring of tests and test results.
- Defect Management: Develop and maintain Test Issues/Defects Logs; track defects for submission, review, triage, and resolution.
- Status Reporting: Provide regular and ad hoc status reports related to QA work and progress with results analysis.
- Knowledge Transfer: As product/system knowledge develops, participate in user feedback and training sessions and contribute to knowledge transfer materials.
- Process Improvement: Follow the project delivery methodology for product testing and contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes to increase testability, defect prevention, and early defect detection.




- Adherence to Methodologies: Strong adherence to BTS Software Quality Assurance methodology, guidelines and best practices, and to TransLink’s BTS Project Management Methodology (Atlas) including required project documents and artefacts.
- Team Participation: Participate in all other related project work as defined by the Team Lead or manager.

What you must have

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or equivalent.
- 10+ years of practicing quality management or quality assurance at a technical project implementation level.
- 10+ years of recent hands-on experience in application testing.
- Ability to work with a range of stakeholders across multiple organizations to gather complex information and make sound recommendations for QA and quality management.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Project Management principles, methodologies, and quality management practices/trends.
- Analytical and broad-based technical knowledge/skills with the ability to think through detail and tactics while keeping strategic goals in mind.
- Exceptional tactical and strategic thinking.
- Strong in identifying issues and conducting root cause analysis.
- Proficient in developing test cases/scripts.
- In-depth understanding of QA process and testing using the Agile/DevOps methodology.
- Experience with large enterprise-level applications (ERP, Finance, HR, CSM, Asset Management) preferred.
- Experience in a unionized environment; exposure to CUPE, COPE and CAW/Unifor is an asset.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to monitor and execute project plans within stringent timelines.
- Process-oriented with strong relationship-building skills from end users to executives.
- Senior-level ability to translate process and technical problems into business terms.
- Senior-level documentation and presentation skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate discussions with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Strong team leadership skills that motivate and encourage collaboration.
