Our client is an established Athletic Institution that offers leagues, camps, competitions, advanced training, and specialized facilities that enhance athletic performance and personal growth of athletes. They are currently hiring a full time Human Resources Generalist that will serve as the strategic and operational HR leader for The Company and its associated brands.
This role is responsible for building and managing a high-performance people strategy that supports the company’s continued growth, strengthens organizational culture, ensures legal compliance, and enhances the employee and student-athlete experience.
As they continue to expand programming, events, and staffing structures, the Human Resources Generalist will design scalable systems, elevate leadership accountability, and embed a culture aligned with our values of excellence, integrity, development, and community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic HR Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with business growth objectives
- Partner with the President and senior leadership team on organizational design and workforce planning
- Support succession planning and leadership development across departments
- Lead performance management frameworks and accountability systems
2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment for full-time, part-time, seasonal, and intern roles
- Standardize hiring processes, interview frameworks, and onboarding programs
- Support talent pipelines for coaching, operations, brand, facilities, and café operations
- Ensure competitive compensation benchmarking within the sport and facility management industry
3. Culture & Employee Experience
- Champion company cultural foundation and leadership standards
- Design employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies
- Lead conflict resolution and employee relations processes
- Develop policies that reinforce inclusivity, transparency, and accountability
- Support internship program structure, mentorship systems, and professional development pathways
4. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA)
- Maintain compliance with WSIB, OHSA, Human Rights Code, and applicable federal regulations
- Develop and maintain employee handbook, contracts, and HR policies
- Oversee workplace investigations and documentation procedures
- Ensure proper record-keeping and HR data management
5. Compensation, Benefits & Administration
- Manage payroll oversight and benefits administration
- Develop compensation structures, bonus frameworks, and incentive programs
- Provide reporting and analytics on staffing costs, turnover, and workforce trends
- Support financial planning related to staffing growth and efficiencies
6. Training & Development
- Build leadership training initiatives for managers and department heads
- Implement structured onboarding and role clarity systems
- Support performance improvement plans and professional growth pathways
- Facilitate ongoing staff training in customer service, leadership, and operational excellence
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, or related field (required)
- Post-graduate HR certificate or diploma (preferred)
Professional Designations (Strongly Preferred)
It is strongly preferred for candidates to possess one or more of the following recognized Canadian HR designations:
- CHRE (Certified Human Resources Executive) – HRPA
- CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources – CPHR Canada)
- Membership in HRPA (Ontario) in good standing is strongly preferred.
Experience Requirements
- 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience
- Experience in multi-entity or growing organizations preferred
- Experience in sport, recreation, hospitality, education, or facility-based organizations considered an asset
- Proven experience building HR systems from foundation to scale
- Experience supporting both full-time and high-volume part-time staffing models
