Position: Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor
Location: Office in Burnaby, BC and project sites around the lower mainland.
BAUER Foundations Canada is seeking an experienced HSE Setting Advisor to join our Burnaby, BC office. The HSE Advisor will report to the Director, HSE and will be responsible for advising project management on the actions necessary to maintain an exceptional level of safety and to continue our safety program towards zero accidents while ensuring regulatory compliance on BAUER Project Sites, the BC offices and BC workshop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement all worksite health and safety requirements;
- Develop good working relationships with the client and ensure that the values held by client are communicated to all Bauer Foundations staff on site;
- Attend health and safety meetings, where required;
- Complete and submit H&S; paperwork as required by the client.
- Provide Health and Safety support to both management and staff;
- Undertake risk assessments and communicate same for tasks undertaken on site;
- Orient all company workers coming onto the worksite;
- Orient client personnel to Bauer work areas;
- Participate in site meetings including pre shift briefings and weekly Toolbox meetings;
- Prepare all required reports;
- Carry out site inspections and safety audits;
- Work with site personnel to assist in identifying work hazards;
- Observe operational activities to ensure compliance with the required Health and Safety Regulations;
- Follow company and client policies & procedures;
- Receive, write and check permits; and
- Work with HSE Director, BC Regional Director, Project Managers and Site Supervisors to keep safety procedures maintained to a high standard.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction HSE experience
- Must be of an NCSO level or working towards NCSO
- Must be a BCCSA-qualified COR External Auditor
- Relevant Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience in the Health and Safety field
- First Aid qualified preferred but not essential
- Self-motivated person
- A Team Player that accepts and can manage change regularly
- Proven Leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage sub-contractor’s safety performance
- Ability to execute Emergency Planning Procedures
