Nursing is a self-regulated profession governed through the College. A nurse is responsible for practicing in accordance with the standards of the profession, and for keeping current and competent throughout his/her nursing career (College of Nurses of Ontario, 2009).

Qualifications:

- Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse required




- Completion of additional college equivalent courses required to deliver care at the full-scope of RPN practice as established by the College of Nurses of Ontario required. (This includes, but is not limited to, the administration of blood and blood products, advanced wound care, administration of medications including processing physician’s orders and initiation and management of peripheral intravenous therapy)
- BCLS required
- AED certification required

Skill, Ability and Experience:

- Ability to function effectively in a high-paced, high-volume clinical environment required
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, prioritization and conflict resolution skills required
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in a high-volume clinical setting. required
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to adverse reactions and emergent situations preferred
- Recent clinical experience in AC, ER and Day Surgery is preferred
- Basic proficiency in the use of computers required
- Demonstrated proficiency with IV starts required
- Experience with electronic nursing documentation preferred.
- French language proficiency preferred.

Principal Duties:

- Provide appropriate nursing care, monitoring and patient education to Nuclear Medicine patients.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including IV initiation and ongoing monitoring responding to any changes in patient condition.




- Support efficient patient flow and departmental throughput in a busy Nuclear Medicine environment
- Complete accurate, timely and detailed documentation within the hospital electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate effectively with Nuclear Medicine technologists and radiologists and interdisciplinary team members
- Other related duties as assigned.
