AHS is looking for an Associate Physician to work at Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre. This is an alternate physician provider role in which the successful candidate will work with a limited medical license issued from the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). The incumbent will work within the Hospitalist group under the direction of an attending physician and within a multidisciplinary team setting to deliver acute patient care.

We are currently hiring Associate Physician positions to support the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre Hospitalist Group. This position represents an prospect created for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to be selected and prepared for work as Associate Physicians in clinical departments. IMGs are landed immigrants, Canadian citizens and/or have employment authorization from the Canadian government and fulfill the program requirements. Applicant must be either a landed immigrant (Permanent Resident) or a Canadian Citizen at the time of application.



Applicants must be a graduate of a medical school located outside of Canada and the United States, listed in the Foundation of Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) International Medical Directory (IMED). Experience in an acute hospital based care facility within the last 3 years. Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME): Must have completed a recognized orthopedic or general surgery residency program with a successful completion of an existing board exam. Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part I (MCCQE1): Applicants must have passed the MCC Qualifying Examination Part 1 prior to application. English Language Proficiency: As a requirement for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), applicants must have taken the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in Canada with minimum required scores of 7.0 in each of the components within 24 months prior to registration.

Preference will be given to applicants who have had active acute care surgical experience within the last 3 years.
