The Bed Planner acts as a point of contact for the site regarding current status of admissions, discharges and transfers to defined beds. The Registered Nurse - Bed Planner will coordinate the movement of patients through specific program as well as the ongoing communication with the inter-professional team regarding clinical status of patients waiting for admission. The Team Lead is responsible for coordinating patient placements on site in collaboration with the program specific bed planners. Critical thinking and accurate interpretation of complex information from a variety of sources are essential to the clinical decision-making required for the determination of placement of patients. The role of the Bed Planner is highly complex and Responsibilities include managing access and daily census of defined program specific bed base.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE:
Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
A minimum of five years acute care nursing experience is required with experience in Medicine and Surgery programs. Charge Nurse experience preferred. Effective time management and prioritization skills are required. Conflict resolution and strong communication skills are required. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking skills is required. Must be able to cope with high levels of stress, fluctuating priorities, and time sensitive deadlines. Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting, or standing as well as repetitive movements. Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, EPIC and e-People is preferred. Must be able to porter/transport patients on site as required.
