Our client, a Toronto-based family office with a diversified investment portfolio across private equity, hedge funds, and public markets, is seeking a Head of Finance to lead and build out the finance function. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Principal(s), offering high visibility and strategic involvement in investment oversight and decision-making.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience from private equity, hedge funds, asset management, or brokerage environments, with a strong understanding of complex investment structures and non-real estate asset classes.

Key Responsibilities:

n

- Lead all aspects of the finance function, including financial reporting, tax coordination, cash management, and oversight of investment accounting
- Act as a strategic partner to the Principal(s) on portfolio performance, capital allocation, and investment decisions
- Oversee accounting and reporting across a range of investment vehicles, including private equity funds, marketable securities, and alternative investments
- Manage relationships with external fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners
- Develop and enhance financial infrastructure, reporting frameworks, and internal controls within a growing platform




- Provide insights on liquidity planning, capital calls/distributions, and portfolio analytics
- Support structuring and execution of current investments, including diligence and financial analysis
- Build and mentor a lean, high-performing finance team over time

Qualifications:

n

- CPA or equivalent designation required
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience within private equity, hedge funds, asset management, or brokerage environments
- Strong technical expertise in investment accounting, fund structures, and financial reporting
- Experience overseeing or interacting with fund administrators and complex investment vehicles
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage directly with senior stakeholders and principals
