Property Accounting Manager

We’re partnering with a well-established real estate development firm that also owns and operates a growing portfolio of properties, seeking a Property Accountant to oversee full-cycle accounting and financial reporting across its assets.

- Oversee financial operations for a Canada-wide portfolio of family-owned commercial properties, including a mall, shopping plaza, and single-tenant retail assets
- Manage full-cycle property accounting: invoice processing, payment preparation (EFT/ACH/cheques), approvals, and all month-end and year-end journal entries and accruals
- Maintain accurate rent rolls in accordance with lease terms and ensure timely rent collection, liaising with tenants as needed
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all property accounts
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reporting packages including P&L;, cash flow, budget vs. actuals, and variance analysis in coordination with property managers




- Calculate annual operating cost and property tax recovery estimates and reconcile recoveries to actual spend
- File and remit HST for all properties
- Prepare year-end working paper packages and account reconciliations for external accountants
- Act as the primary accounting contact for tenant and property management inquiries, including support for current leases and annual budgeting

Qualifications

- Degree or diploma in Accounting or related field
- CPA designation completed or in progress considered an asset
- Strong understanding of property accounting, revenues, and expenses
- Ability to manage deadlines, multitask, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Professional communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with high attention to detail and integrity
