Intermediate/Senior Structural Engineer | Edmonton, AB

At Capital Engineering, we take your commercial design experience and turn it into industrial expertise. We looking for an Intermediate/Senior Structural Engineer to join our Edmonton team. In this role, you will get to work on cutting-edge oil & gas projects (cogeneration, carbon capture, 100% recyclable plastics, and more) that supports the energy transition, while growing in a culture that values mentorship, collaboration, and technical excellence.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on design, client interaction, and seeing projects through from early stages to execution.

What You’ll Do
n
- Perform structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, and foundation systems.
- Prepare calculations, design documents, drawings, and technical reports.
- Assist with development of scopes of work, Design Basis Memoranda, and construction work packages.
- Conduct site visits, field reviews and support structural integrity assessments of existing facilities.
- Support constructability reviews and assist with construction sequencing considerations.
- Respond to RFIs and assist in resolving technical deviations from engineering specifications.
- Collaborate with clients and internal multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, and process engineers.
- Support client deliverables and project execution activities.
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers (for senior candidates).

What We’re Looking For
n
- 5+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer designation with APEGA or eligibility to obtain registration.
- Experience in oil and gas, oil sands, refinery, petrochemical, mining, or utilities facilities is considered an asset.
- Strong technical problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
