Our client, a well-established machine shop specializing in hydraulic cylinder repair work and one-off jobs, is looking for a Manual Machinist with CNC experience on a full-time, long-term basis. This hands-on role is best suited for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and precision machining. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating manual equipment, manual/CNC (teach-and-turn), and CNC machines to produce precision parts, primarily as per sample.

Location: Edmonton, AB

n

Compensation: $35.00–$45.00/hour

n

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Overtime as required)

n

Duties may include (but are not limited to):

n

- Operate manual lathes, manual/CNC machines, mills, drill presses, and grinders
- Perform full machine setups, tooling, and fixturing
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and tolerances
- Machine custom, low-volume, high-precision parts
- Complete the majority of work as per sample from existing parts (approximately 95%),



with occasional blueprint and drawing work
- Measure, inspect, and verify parts using precision tools
- Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality workmanship
- Troubleshoot machining challenges and adjust processes as needed
- Perform routine maintenance on manual equipment
- Work with CNC equipment when required
- Verify CNC programs, setups, and tooling as needed
- Assist with CNC machining operations as required, although CNC work is secondary and not the primary focus of the role

Qualifications:

n

- Solid knowledge of machining processes and manual machine operation
- Experience operating manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and grinders
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and precision
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Experience with conversational CNC programming
- Welding experience is an asset
- Cylindrical grinding experience is an asset
