Details: We are looking for a number of individuals that are interested in a flexible, dynamic role, providing shift coverage for our kitchen/dining room and housekeeping positions across our different locations throughout Edmonton.

n

Pay Scale: $19.05 to $23.10 per hour

n

Location: GEF locations throughout Edmonton. (Travel between sites may be required, mileage paid)

n

Schedule: There are no regularly scheduled shifts as a casual employee; however, a variety of shifts are available based on the needs of the organization.

n

Typical Duties:

nKitchen duties: food preparation, portioning and labeling food, cooking, baking, cleaning kitchen areas, dining areas, and equipment, dishwashing, preparing meals, beverages, sandwiches, salads and snacks, peeling and chopping vegetables.n

Dining Room duties: greeting the residents, serving meals and beverages, setting and clearing tables, assisting residents at the buffet table as needed, assisting with meal attendance checks, and other site-specific duties as assigned.

Housekeeping duties: cleaning common areas, dining room and kitchen, disinfecting, floor care,



laundry, and restocking supply areas, dealing with resident issues and emergencies as required and other site-specific duties as assigned. On an as needed basis, this position will also attend to unscheduled cleaning needs in residents’ units and will cover the front desk when required.

Responding to emergencies as needed.

n

Experience/Education Preferences:

n

- Strong English communication skills are required, both written and verbal
- Experience in the area(s) of food preparation, serving meals, baking, or cooking is an asset
- Training can be provided
- Experience as a server in a dining room and performing commercial housekeeping is preferred

Other Requirements:

n

- Solid customer service skills including the ability to interact with everyone in a respectful manner
- Ability to read and follow standard recipes and work in a sanitary manner
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
- Strong interpersonal skills with a positive people focus
- Ability to demonstrate responsible judgement in problem solving
