We are looking for a Lumber Yard Associate / Driver to join our team! If you are a motivated individual that likes to stay busy, works well in a team environment, and enjoys working outdoors, we want to hear from you!

The Lumber Yard Associate / Driver is responsible for loading and checking customer orders and providing excellent customer service to all customers. They are also responsible for loading and unloading materials and storing them in the proper locations using a variety of equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, skid steer, etc. The Lumber Yard Associate / Driver is also responsible for delivering and picking up orders using our fleet vehicles.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Identify and assist customers in a friendly and respectful manner, with advice and information on products located in the lumber yard or other outdoor areas
- Provide exemplary customer service in handling and loading customer orders and large or heavy items
- Work independently and as a team to load and check customer orders going out for delivery, verifying products and quantities, safe loading of the order, and delivery location
- Work with other yard and front-store staff to receive and unload incoming merchandise
- Move and store products in the correct locations in the yard or outbuildings with the use of necessary equipment (e.g. pallet jack, forklift, skid steer, etc.)
- Perform simple cuts for customer orders with the use of a table or chop saw
- Perform daily maintenance checks on all equipment before using
- Keep the yard clean and the inventory near and orderly
- Stay alert to all yard activities in order to help customers, maintain a safe working environment, and help in loss control




- Be familiar with and take all necessary safety precautions when handling freight and operating equipment, including forklift, lumber cart, pallet jack, banding machine, table saw, chop saw, etc.
- Work on any special projects assigned by your supervisor, after determining their priority in relation to your other duties

QUALIFICATIONS - MUST HAVE:

- Speak English fluently
- Class 5 driver's license and clean driving abstract required
- Prior customer service experience and a positive, friendly attitude
- Able to work outdoors
- Able to work weekends
- Able to regularly lift materials weighing 50lbs (with occasional lifting up to 100lbs) around the yard, placing them on or removing them from trucks, pallets, etc.
- Able to safely operate yard equipment and tools, including a forklift, pallet jack, lumber cart, banding machine, chop saw, table saw, etc.
- Able to communicate in a respectful and effective manner with customers, management, and other employees
- Able to read and comprehend written and printed materials, as well as information presented in numerical form
- Able to work cooperatively in a team atmosphere
- Willingness to learn and help others

QUALIFICATIONS - NICE TO HAVE:

- Previous forklift experience
- Previous skid steer experience
- Class 3 driver's license
- General knowledge of lumber and building materials
- Previous work experience in construction, warehousing, or farming
- First aid certification

Job Type: Part Time: Seasonal 32-40 hours per week depending on a candidates availability.

Schedule: Daytime hours until 6:00pm, a combination of weekday and weekend work to be expected.

Hourly Wage: Starting from $20.00 an hour depending on experience and qualifications
