Lodge Cook – Fly-In Wilderness Location (Northern Ontario)- Full time/Seasonal
Wilderness North is looking for an experienced, capable cook to join our team at one of our remote fly-in lodges based out of Armstrong, Ontario.
This is a hands-on, independent role in a full-service lodge where you’ll be responsible for delivering consistent, high-quality meals in a true wilderness setting.
If you enjoy cooking from scratch, working independently, and being part of a small, tight-knit team—this is a unique opportunity to do all three.
The Role
As the Lodge Cook, you are the sole cook on site and responsible for the full kitchen operation.
You’ll prepare daily meals for both guests and staff, including:
- Made-to-order breakfasts
- Lunches
- Three-course dinners prepared fresh each evening
You will work from a set 7-day rotating menu, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation while managing your time and prep effectively.
Strong planning and creativity in minimizing food waste is essential.
Menus are made from scratch as much as possible and include a variety of soups, salads, appetizers, entrées, and desserts.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Running the kitchen independently, day to day
- Executing a 7-day set menu rotation with consistency
- Preparing high-quality meals for guests and staff
- Planning and preparing staff lunches using leftovers and available inventory
- Actively minimizing food waste through thoughtful meal planning
- Maintaining an extremely clean, organized kitchen at all times
- Managing all kitchen duties including cleaning and dishes
- Maintaining food inventory and proper storage
- Assisting in planning and submitting weekly food orders
- Working efficiently with available supplies
- Adjusting to changing conditions (weather delays, shifting guest counts, flight logistics)
- Assisting with seasonal opening and closing of the lodge
What We’re Looking For
- Strong breakfast cooking experience (essential)
- Experience cooking for groups (breakfast and dinner service)
- Ability to work independently as the sole cook
- Strong organization and time management
- Practical, problem-solving mindset
- High standards for cleanliness and kitchen organization
- Positive attitude and team-oriented approach
- Valid First Aid certification
- Comfortable living and working in a remote, dry camp environment
- Available for the full season (May–September 2026)
Compensation
- $5,000/month
- Room and board included
- Share of gratuities
This is an existing seasonal position for the 2026 operating season.
