HEAD BREWER

Village Brewery is looking for a creative and experienced Head Brewer to join our team! In this newly created role, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading our growing brewing team through the ever-changing Alberta craft beer scene. As a member of the brewery steering committee, the Head Brewer will work very closely with the Director of Brewery Operations to help achieve the goals of the brewery.

Who you are

You have a well-rounded background in brewery operations with 3+ years of practical experience. Recipe design comes naturally, as does building culture within a small team. Mechanical aptitude is your middle name: having occasional breakdowns won’t phase you and knowing when you can help fix things vs. when to call a contracted technician is a decision you have been faced with multiple times. You would also be required to plan a tight production schedule but be able to adapt to unforeseen changes to the plan.

Aside from being a high-level talent with operations, you are experienced in coaching a small team of brewers, cellar hands, and packaging staff to hone their operational and creative skills and habits.

Highlights

· Start date: April 2026

· Status: Full-time

· Location: Calgary, AB

Key Responsibilities

The Head Brewer is responsible for management of the brewery team, having accountability for process control, recipe design, coaching our team, mechanical awareness, and having strong input on production schedule. - Managing the brewing and cellaring team: hiring, reviewing performance, and training on GMP.
- Maintaining the supply chain: ensuring production can operate without delay by ensuring production inputs are on hand.
