ABOUT THE ROLE

Anderson Therapy Services (ATS) is currently seeking one (1) full-time Registered Mental Therapist as the demand for our services continues to grow. This role will support children and adolescents through emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. his role focuses primarily on school-based and community-based therapeutic support, with strong preference for clinicians experienced in play therapy and/or art therapy modalities.

Rate of Pay: When determining rate of pay for external hires, a candidate’s past related experience will be taken into consideration along with where others with similar experience currently fall within the band.

Salary Range: Pay: $38 - $45 per hour

Job Types: Full Time, Contract (12-18 months)

Key Responsibilities

- Provide strengths-based, developmentally appropriate therapeutic support to children and youth using play therapy, art therapy, and other expressive modalities.
- Support children experiencing emotional, behavioural, grief, trauma-related, and mental health concerns.
- Deliver services within school and community settings in ways that are culturally safe,



respectful, and responsive to community context.
- Provide support to promotes mental wellness, child growth and development, healthy parent-child relations, and positive child-school dynamics.
- Work with clients from different backgrounds and specialized populations.
- Leverage our digital health platforms to support care delivery, collaboration, documentation, and intervention.
- Support skill-building and regulation strategies that can be carried over in classroom and home environments.
- Work with clients in the Dundas, Ontario office and surrounding areas.
- Travel to Northern First Nations Communities is required. The trip duration may vary, lasting up to one week. Total annual travel accounts for up to 10% of the role.
- Participate in continuing education classes and workshops to remain current.

Qualifications

Required

- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related clinical field.
- Registered and in good standing with a relevant Ontario regulatory body (e.g., OCSWSSW, CRPO, CPO).
- Great interpersonal skills, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Skilled in completing formal and informal assessments and identifying client-centered treatment goals.
- Creative and play-oriented clinician: Skilled in expressive, play-based, and strengths-focused therapeutic approaches.
- Able to adapt assessment and treatment approach to the needs of clients, including clients of different cultural backgrounds & across various settings (e.g., online).
- Experience working with individuals, and engaging caregivers in treatment both in-clinic and remotely.
- Knowledge of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people, their history, intergenerational trauma, culture, health priorities, and social issues impacting mental health.
- Knowledge of privacy legislation (PHIPA/PIPEDA) and confidentiality practices.

Assets

- Experience and specialized skills to work with children, youth, and adults who experience, or are affected by, but not limited to: Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Loss, Separation and/or Divorce, Self-Harm, and Suicidal Ideation
- Experience tailoring intervention plans to each client and varying use of directive methods (e.g., art making prompts)



and non-directive methods (e.g., unprompted art making and play therapy) in response to client needs/goals.
- Able to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes Speech-Language Pathologists, Communicative Disorders Assistants, Occupation Therapists, Physiotherapists, Behaviour Therapists.
- Possess the flexibility and time-management skills necessary to manage an ever-changing caseload.
- Problem solving skills, creativity, and organizational/time management skills.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with video conference software (e.g., Zoom), Canva and the Microsoft Office ecosystem (e.g., TEAMS, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
