We are looking for a Corporate Accountant to support our growing construction and project-based operations. This position is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals, an interest in project accounting, and the ability to work across multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Corporate Accountant will support financial reporting, job costing, project accounting, budgeting, and month-end activities related to construction projects and corporate entities.

This role will be responsible for helping ensure accurate financial records, monitoring project performance, supporting invoicing and collections, and assisting with financial analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Project and Job Cost Accounting

- Maintain and monitor job cost tracking for multiple construction projects
- Allocate labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs to individual jobs
- Review project budgets against actual costs and identify variances
- Assist with project profitability reporting and analysis

Revenue Recognition and Reporting

- Support project revenue recognition based on project status and completion
- Prepare and post project-related revenue and cost entries
- Assist with monthly work-in-progress reporting and project reconciliations
- Ensure financial information is recorded accurately and consistently

Billing, Receivables, and Payables

- Prepare and review progress billings, holdbacks, and change orders
- Coordinate with project managers to support accurate client invoicing




- Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections follow-up
- Process vendor and subcontractor invoices in a timely manner
- Track subcontractor agreements and payment schedules

Financial Reporting and Analysis

- Assist with monthly financial statements and project reports
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking
- Participate in month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare account reconciliations and balance sheet reviews
- Assist with audits, reviews, and ad hoc financial analysis

Collaboration and Process Improvement

- Work closely with finance, operations, and project teams
- Provide financial insights to support project decision-making
- Help maintain accurate documentation and internal controls
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting efficiency

Qualifications

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Working toward a CPA designation or recently designated CPA is considered an asset
- 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, project accounting, or a related industry
- Strong understanding of job costing and project accounting concepts
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach
