Position Title: Junior Sous Chef

Terms of Employment: Full Time Term Position (40hr/week)

Position Summary:

nWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Sous Chef to support our high-volume meal production program and catering operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining food quality, supporting kitchen production, and assisting kitchen leadership with daily operations.n

The Junior Sous Chef works closely with the Sous Chef and Chef to ensure meals are prepared efficiently, consistently, and according to established recipes and standards. This position is ideal for an experienced cook who is ready to grow into a leadership role while gaining experience in large scale food production and catering.

What You’ll Do:

nProduction & Cooking:n





- Lead preparation and cooking of assigned stations including proteins, starches, vegetables, sauces, and stews
- Prepare marinades, sauces, and seasoning blends according to standardized recipes
- Assist with large batch cooking for meal production (approximately 160 portions per meal)
- Monitor cooking techniques and timing to ensure consistency and quality
- Support cooks during production and step in when additional assistance is needed

Food Quality Control:

n

- Taste food during production to ensure proper seasoning, texture, and flavor balance
- Make minor seasoning adjustments when necessary to maintain consistency across large batches
- Ensure dishes meet quality standards before meals move to packaging

nPackaging & Production Support:n

- Assist with overseeing meal packaging during production
- Ensure meals are portioned correctly and ingredients are balanced (protein, starch, vegetables)
- Verify delivery slips and ensure meals are labeled correctly
- Ensure all food items are prepared and ready for scheduled deliveries

nInventory & Kitchen Organization:n

- Assist with receiving food deliveries and verifying product quantities
- Ensure ingredients are stored properly in refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage




- Follow FIFO (First In First Out) inventory rotation practices
- Maintain clean and organized cooking stations and storage areas

Team Support:

n

- Support and guide cooks and prep cooks during production
- Provide supervision when the Sous Chef is unavailable
- Communicate production issues or ingredient shortages to kitchen leadership

What We’re Looking For:

n

Essential Qualifications:

n

- Minimum 3 years experience in high-volume, fast-paced kitchen
- Meal prep service experience - ability to efficiently execute daily meal preparation programs
- Cultural culinary knowledge - experience with diverse international cuisines preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Physical capability to lift heavy objects (50+ lbs) and stand for extended periods during food production
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Recipe development and menu planning skills is an asset
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality and positive attitude
- Clear criminal record check is required

nhours shift: 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Fridayn

Physical demands: Heavy lifting, extended standing, fast-paced environment The successful candidate must be prepared to undergo a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
