Smith Steel & Fabrication has been hand-building custom steel tanks and fabricated structures from Atwood, Ontario for nearly 50 years. As our Mechanical Designer, you'll own the design process end-to-end — from early concept through approved shop drawings — across a genuinely varied product mix. You'll work closely with Project Managers and shop personnel on custom tanks, structures, and one-off fabrications that require creative problem-solving, not just template execution. If you're the kind of designer who likes knowing a project is truly yours from start to finish, this role is built for you.

The Engineering Office is Located in Elmira (within the Tri-Mach Group Inc. head office) in which the role will work out of primarily.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

n

- Lead the design of steel tanks, structures,



and custom fabricated products from concept through detailed shop drawings
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure designs accurately reflect project scope and client requirements
- Own the research, design and test of product or product subsystem development utilizing CAD and analysis tools
- Complete SolidWorks 3D models and produce full 2D drawing packages
- Build bills of materials in the ERP system to support procurement and production planning
- Work with sales to develop concepts and define project scope for current opportunities
- Coordinate with purchasing to source materials from qualified vendors
- Support technical documentation and product information packages as needed
