We’re looking for our next Sous Chef at our Michelin recognized Madrina Bar y Tapas.

Corp., creators of El Catrin, Cluny Bistro, Madrina Bar y Tapas Pure Spirits, District Pizza, Jardin and Distillery Events is seeking an experienced Sous Chef with outstanding beverage & food knowledge, solid business acumen, and a drive to deliver results and bring people together. The ideal candidate is passionate about Spanish cuisine, building the best team setting and delivering exceptional guest experiences through outstanding flavours and presentation. Chefs have a proven track record of cooking in a demanding environment paired with progressive growth and leadership experience.

Vacancy Status: This position is for an existing, open vacancy. What you’ll experience with The DRC:

n

- $67,000 annual salary

- The chance to work alongside the best team in the city What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the team in successful service, ensuring that dishes look and taste as they should.
- Consistently monitor kitchen operations processes and systems to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, best practices and safety.
- Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with fellow chefs and Front of House management alike.
- Support every level of ordering and receiving, maintaining product par levels, ensuring FIFO rotation and safe storage.




- Support and create a culture centred around a healthy and happy employee experience and a genuine passion for industry, cooking, hospitality and food & beverage.
- Bring fresh ideas to improve process and procedures, as well as ideas for menu development and innovation to the Executive Chef.
- Demonstrate a high degree of personal integrity in every leadership decision.
- Communicate The DRC’s vision to all team members and lead by example; and reinforce the DRC’s mission and priorities daily; inspire their team with his/her exciting vision for the future.
- Conduct recruitment and selection, training and development initiatives as well as performance management and employee coaching.
- Maintain and build relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Other duties as assigned. What you’ll bring to the kitchen:
- EXPERIENCE. You have at least five (5) years of cooking experience, preferably three (3) years in a management role, and demonstrate progressive growth within a fine-dining environment.

Experience in a Michelin restaurant is a definite asset.

n

- PASSION. You have a genuine passion and drive to create.
- EDUCATION/TRAINING. You have a culinary degree/diploma and/or the equivalent in education and experience are considered an asset.
- LEADERSHIP: You pride yourself in being able to collaborate with others and to lead a team by example.
- COMMUNICATION SKILLS. You demonstrate exceptional relationship building and communication skills among your team members at the restaurant.
- ADAPTABILITY. You thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
