SUMMARY OF THE POSITION A person who assesses the functions of language, voice and speech. It determines a treatment and intervention plan and ensures its implementation with the aim of improving or restoring communication between the human being and his environment. She/he participates in clinical teaching.

REQUIREMENTS

Education
n
- Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology;
- Member of the Ordre des orthophonistes et audiologistes du Québec (OOAQ).
n
Experience
n
- Experience working with First Nations or in a cross-cultural context is an asset;
- Experience in remote areas is an asset;
- Experience in telepractice is an asset;
- Experience working with an interpreter is an asset.
n
Knowledge and Abilities
n
- Ability to provide speech therapy interventions and training in English and with an interpreter/third person;
- Good qualified record in speech therapy;
- Good knowledge of speech therapy theory and practice, current trends, the MSSS network and regulations;
- Knowledge of the culture, healing practices and paradigms, Cree language and health/social issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
- Varied clinical skills;
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment;
- Spirit of openness in terms of language, culture, values and beliefs;
- Ability to communicate theoretical and practical knowledge applied to training;
