BUILDING TECHNICIAN - CARPENTER

(Full-time position, in Kuujjuaq)

The Municipal Public Works Department (MPW) of the KRG is responsible for maintaining the organization's buildings (offices, police stations, airports, employees' housing units, etc.) and providing technical assistance to the 14 Northern Villages (NVs) in matters related to operation and maintenance of their recreational buildings (arenas, swimming pools, gymnasiums, and community centres).

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator of the Building Maintenance Section, the Building Technician performs preventive maintenance and service/repair operations on the architectural components of our buildings (roofs, siding, doors, windows, stairs, flooring, drywall, etc.) in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

DUTIES:

- Perform scheduled maintenance service and repairs to the architectural components
- Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes and the quality required by the KRG;
- Complying with safety rules;
- Perform general buildingmaintenance and repairs as it relates to light construction, plastering, and painting;




- Perform any other duty requested by his/her supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Hold a valid CCQ card (Trade #160)
- Have a valid class-5driver’s licence;
- Minimum of five to eight years of relevant building experience in renovation work;
- Ability to read drawingsand schematics;
- Organized in their work andmeet deadlines;
- Demonstrated good professional conductas well as being reliable, autonomous, and possessing a sense of initiative;
- Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, and French
- Have working knowledge of computer software, such as Microsoft Office, would be considered an asset;
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Place of work: Kuujjuaq, Quebec

Salary: Minimum $52 481, maximum $89 256 annually (Class 8)

Cost-of-living differential: minimum $8 500 annually;

Annual leave trips: maximum of 3 per person annually;

Vacation: 20 days annually.
