Kirkland Lake Discoveries Corp. (TSX-V: KLDC, OTCQB: KLKLF) has assembled a 420-km² exploration portfolio in the Kirkland Lake region of Ontario’s Abitibi Greenstone Belt, one of the most prolific mining districts in the world. The Company’s properties span key fault zones, geophysical anomalies, and volcanic-sedimentary contacts within the Blake River Group, a highly prospective assemblage known to host both gold and polymetallic massive-sulphide deposits. With exploration permits now in place, KLDC is positioned to advance a solid pipeline of drill-ready targets at KL South, KL West and KL East, supported by multiple anomalous soil trends, historical mineral showings, and structurally controlled intersections.
Role Description
The Junior Geologist (Core Logger) assists with geological logging,g sampling, and field data collection under the guidance of senior staff. Responsibilities include logging and analyzing core samples, supporting geological mapping and geophysical activities, assisting with fieldwork, and collaborating with drilling teams to ensure accurate data collection and interpretation.
This is an on-site, permanent position based in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and follows a rotation schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Log drill core for lithology, alteration, mineralization, and structure.
- Mark sample intervals and oversee sampling.
- Collect and record structural measurements.
- Assist with mapping, soil sampling, and prospecting programs.
- Enter geological data into digital logging systems.
- Support QA/QC and sample tracking.
- Assist with drill rig supervision and pad inspections.
- Undertaking additional ad hoc tasks and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- BSc in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field of study is must.
- Previous experience in mineral exploration or core logging is preferred.
- A valid Canadian driver's licence is must.
- Strong interest in mineral exploration.
- Basic understanding of mineral systems and alteration.
- Posses strong observational, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Willingness to work in remote field settings, in variable outdoor conditions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks incl. lifting and moving core boxes weighing up to 50lbs.
Work Environment
- A combination of core shack and outdoor fieldwork; rotational schedules common.
