About Nanaadawegaming: Nanaadawegaming is an Indigenous-led mental wellness organization grounded in culturally rooted, trauma-informed care. Our work is guided by Indigenous knowledge systems, community connection, and wholistic approaches to healing, including the Thunderbird Indigenous Wellness Framework and the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum. Position Summary Nanaadawegaming is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Social Worker (MSW or HBSW) to join our team as an independent contractor.

This role involves providing counselling, assessment, and case coordination services to a diverse client population, with a strong focus on Indigenous mental wellness, trauma, and community-based care. Services will be delivered through a hybrid model, including in-person sessions in Fort William First Nation, Thunder Bay, and surrounding areas, as well as secure virtual counselling services. This opportunity is ideal for clinicians who value autonomy, flexible scheduling, and culturally grounded practice.

Key Responsibilities: Provide individual, family, and/or group counselling services (virtual and in-person)
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments Develop and implement client-centered treatment plans Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation Collaborate with internal team members and external service providers Integrate culturally relevant and trauma-informed approaches into care Participate in case consultation and professional development as appropriate

Qualifications &

Requirements: Master of Social Work (MSW) preferred, or Honours Bachelor of Social Work (HBSW) from an accredited institution Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) Minimum 3 years of clinical experience providing counselling services Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous individuals, families, and communities Strong understanding of intergenerational trauma, colonial impacts, and culturally grounded healing practices Valid Professional Liability Insurance Current Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Screening) Ability to work independently and manage a flexible caseload Ability to deliver services effectively in both virtual and in-person environments Access to a private, secure home office space suitable for confidential virtual counselling (including reliable internet connection and appropriate technology)

Preferred Qualifications: Lived experience and/or strong connection to Indigenous communities (First Nations, Métis,
Inuit) is a valuable asset Training in trauma-informed care, addictions, child welfare, and/or mental health Experience integrating Indigenous cultural approaches, land-based healing, or traditional knowledge into practice Knowledge of local community resources and systems in Northwestern Ontario, including Fort William First Nation and Thunder Bay.
