Community Outreach and Communications Intern:
n
The London Heritage Council is looking to hire a Community Outreach and Communications Intern to assist the Communications Officer with the planning, development and execution of Night Market London, Canada Day London, Labatt Park Tours, and Doors Open London, to develop and manage a communications and marketing plan, and assist with creating and managing promotional materials for these four city-wide events.

The Intern will work with the Communications Officer at LHC to plan and execute the coordination of Night Market London, Labatt Park Tours, and Canada Day London. The Intern will help with planning the content to help advertise events and increase engagement. The Intern will create promotional materials for the event such as posters, radio ads, website and social media management. The Intern will also help with the event debrief and wrap-up.

In addition,
the Community Outreach and Communications Intern will spend the remainder of their time working with the Communications Officer to promote the 25th annual Doors Open event in London. The intern will help develop promotional materials and a marketing plan for the event, which will include posters, brochures, radio ads, billboard ads and social media management.

Event Support
n
- Previous experience or internship in supporting and coordinating large scale events an asset; Familiarity and comfort with delivering a strong presence in a hectic event setting;
- Monitor event attendees, manage event day scheduling and direct visitors to event features and entertainment; Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to accommodate special events;
- Willingness to receiving feedback and take direction;
- Demonstrate a team approach in day-to-day activities and can work independently;
- Take action to avoid or solve problems and create opportunities for positive change; Approachable, demonstrates initiative, flexibility and resourcefulness;

Communications and Marketing
n
- Knowledge of social media, content management and its application for non-profits;
- Experience developing communication and marketing plans;
- Creativity and design skills to produce marketing and promotional materials;
- Ability to connect and distribute marketing and promotional materials to appropriate media contacts;
- Familiarity with basic website updates;
- Proven ability to manage online communities (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram);
- Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook;
- Knowledge of Canva, Adobe In-Design, Hootsuite, and Publisher an asset;
- Proven ability in writing, editing and proofreading;
- Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals at all organizational levels;
- Comfort with Public Speaking;

Required Qualifications
n
- Pursuing education in Public Relations, Communication, Marketing or related field;
- Experience or Internship in the not-for-profit, museum, or heritage sector;
- Solid organizational skills and ability to accurately manage details;
- Ability to communicate at an advanced level in English (verbal and in writing);
- Bilingualism is an asset
